PROJECT OVERVIEW

BravoCon Las Vegas

During my internship at NBCUniversal, I worked within the Entertainment Group, including for the Bravo channel. Each year, Bravo puts on a weekend-long convention starring the “Bravolebs” of the channel’s long list of iconic shows. Boasting more than 60 events and 150 Bravolebs, the team was tasked with creating merchandise that felt distinctly Bravo, but with a Vegas twist. I was tasked with creating designs for drinkware while other team members were assigned keychains, baby merch, and other specialty items. The whole team was asked to each create a main shirt design embodying BravoCon Vegas. The project extended after my internship term ended, thus some changes were made by shareholders and the team after I left, but the final result derives from my original shirt design.

THE MAIN DESIGN

“BravoCoin”

Utilizing coin icons given to us by the creative team as a part of the branding toolkit, I created what I call the “BravoCoin” design. Inspired by Vegas sunsets and neon lights, I replaced what was previously a rectangle with the Bravo logo to create Bravo coins. The contrast between the magenta gradient and green coins on a blue shirt highlights the bright lights in Vegas as the coins keep rolling deep into the night.

PROJECT DETAILS

Previous Iteration

This was one of the earlier iterations of the final design I submitted. The yellow was later changed to a green within the color palette of the brand toolkit, and the blue text was switched to white for readability.

FINAL REFLECTION

In Conclusion

This was the second project I was assigned for Bravo merchandise, but was one of the most fun projects I worked on in my 1.25 years at NBCU. The team was given creative freedom, as long as our designs were within the colors and use of the Bravo logo for the Bravo brand. Through working with the design team, I experienced a real-world, collaborative creative project. I have previous experience designing merchandise, but creating for Bravo and BravoCon merchandise allowed me to design on a larger scale while learning about how entertainment brands like Bravo have identity systems and brand iconography that makes Bravo and all its projects so recognizeable.

DRINKWARE MOCKUPS

Below are mockup designs of possible drinkware designs that did not make it to final printing.

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY (RHONY)

RHONY Cheeseboard

When I first joined the Bravo Merchandise Design team, they were working on a new merchandise line for The Real Housewives of New York City as its fourteenth season aired with a fresh cast. One quote in particular went viral, and to capitalize on the moment, we released an engraved cheeseboard. I designed the layout, and this product can be found on the Bravo Shop website for purchase.
